Birds

The Cayman Islands has 230 different species of birds. I have photographed some of them and will be continually adding more. From those, 2 are endemic and 131 are rare or accidental. 1 species is extirpated and is not a part of the species count!

  • Accidental A species
  • Endemic A species endemic to the Cayman Islands
  • Extirpated A species that does not exist in the Cayman Islands even though it still exist elsewhere

Even though our islands are small and we don't have the variety of birds that many other countries may have, our feathered friends are loved and beautiful to us. Beyond their beauty they offer friendship---I can say some are very very friendly, and bring a sense of serenity to our islands.

I will introduce you to them as I gather photos along with sharing a little about each one.
